Resolution

To Map (Connect) to a Network Drive for Pathways on Windows XP and WIndows 2000 workstations:

CAUTION: Do not use Network Neighborhood to map a drive. This will place UNC (Universal Naming Convention) code in some of our system files - which PLATO Pathways does not support. Use My Computer to map a network drive instead. (Right-click on My Computer and choose Map Network Drive from the menu.)

DO NOT USE NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD'S BROWSE FEATURE to browse the network, find the server you want to map to, and then map the drive. If you use this method, the mapped drive will contain UNC (Universal Naming Convention) code, which PLATO Pathways does not support.

TIP: Before you map a network drive or folder to a local drive name, you'll need to know the path to your server. You should also make sure the network drive or folder you want to map to is shareable. Please see your network administrator if you need help.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Map Network Drive.
  3. Click the down arrow in the Drive box to choose the network drive letter you want to connect to. (Choose the drive PLATO Pathways is installed on.)
  4. Click the down arrow in the Folder box to choose the folder you want to connect to.
  5. Make sure the Reconnect at logon box is selected.
  6. Click Finish.
