Resolution

If you aren't sure if your PLATO Pathways system is installed on a network or on standalones (or a combination of both), try the following options:

  • Check your paperwork for the original order you placed or check your packing slip for the PLATO Pathways system and courseware you received
  • Contact your Account Manager to find out if your PLATO Pathways system is installed on a network or standalones, and how many licenses you have for your PLATO Pathways system and courseware
  • If you're not sure if your computer is a networked workstation or a standalone workstation, try the following:

    1. Use My Computer to open the C:\WINDOWS (or C:\WINNT) folder.
    2. Open the WCMIWS.INI file.
    3. Under the [Locations] heading, look at the first line, which is location "0." If location 0 specifies drive "C:" for the location of Pathways, your computer has a standalone version installed. If location 0 specifies a network drive letter, such as Q:, you have a network version installed.

      EXAMPLES:
      [Locations]
      0=;1;Q:\PWAY
      -----> A network version is installed is installed on the workstation.

      [Locations]
      0=;1;C:\PWAY
      -------> A standalone version is installed on the workstation.

    4. Do you need to check several workstations to see if they are networked or standalones? You can save a lot of time if you use the SEEWSID.BAT utility to check the WCMIWS.INI file automatically. Just download the utility, save it to a floppy disk or CD, insert the disk in the drive of the workstation you want to check, and open the SEEWSID.BAT file on the disk. The utility will automatically run and display the workstation's WCMIWS.INI file.
