Biology and Chemistry Series lessons sometimes do not show mastery and completion in PLATO Pathways

Resolution

You are running version 4.0 of Biology Series and Chemistry Series, which was the first version released under PLATO Pathways. Version 4.0 does not track mastery or completion; it only tracks number of tries, start and last on date, and time on task.

Version 4.1 of Biology Series and Chemistry Series tracks mastery and completion on lessons.   Each lesson is a combination of a tutorial and test.

Version 4.2 of Biology Series and Chemistry Series (which runs under PLATO Pathways v. 4.1 and higher) is the latest version. Modules consist of separate tutorial and mastery test lessons. The mastery test tracks mastery and completion, as well as number of tries, start and last on date, and time on task. Mastery is based on achieving at least 80% on a mastery test.

Contact PLATO Support Services to request Biology Series and/or Chemistry Series version 4.2. You will need to know how many licenses are installed on your system, which is listed in PLATO Pathways, in System Management > Courseware, next to the Cyber Ed Interactive Biology Series and Chemistry Series.

Obtain and run version 4.2 of Biology Series and Chemistry Series.

The instructions require you to uninstall the previous version of Biology and Chemistry (either version 4.0 or 4.1) before installing version 4.2. It is suggested that you note any assignments where Biology or Chemistry activities were used. After the reinstallation of version 4.2 of Biology and Chemistry, verify in User Management, Class Management and/or Learning Resource Management that the assignments still include the desired activities. If not, re-add the new activities.
