Resolution
Follow these steps before you delete lock files -
Make sure you have administrator privileges to the workstation and server before you attempt to delete lock files. -
Have all users completely exit PLATO Pathways. This means everyone must exit from the PLATO Pathways signon screen to the Windows desktop. Click the Exit button on the PLATO Pathways signon screen:

Make sure all users have also logged off the network. Lock files are in use and you will not be able to delete them if users are still on the system. - Follow the procedures below to delete lock files automatically or manually.
How to run the Lock Clear Utility to delete lock files automatically The Lock Clear Utility is included in the Pathways 4.2 release. - If you do not have PLATO Pathways 4.2 and have never downloaded the Lock Clear Utility, download the Lock Clear Utility (LOCKCLR.ZIP) now and then copy the LOCKCLR.EXE file to the \PWAY\BIN folder.
- Open the \PWAY\BIN folder.
- Double-click LOCKCLR.EXE.
The utility searches for and attempts to delete the following lock files: - PDOXUSRS.NET from the \PWAY folder
- INTERLCK.*, PDOXUSRS.LCK, and PARADOX.LCK from the \PWAY folder and all of the \PWAY subfolders
The utility displays the progress bar as it runs and lists files that it finds and attempts to delete in the LCKCLR.LOG file. Any files that cannot be deleted are also listed in the log file. The LCKCLEAR.LOG file is saved in the \PWAY\LOGS folder. How to delete lock files manually Instructions for standalone workstations -
Log out of PLATO Pathways, which includes exiting from the Pathways signon screen. -
At the Windows desktop of the workstation, press F3. The Windows search box for finding files or folders displays. -
In the Search for Files and Folders box, enter the following: P*.LCK;P*.NET;INTERLCK.* -
Set the "Look in" box to search the Local Disk (C:) drive of the workstation. -
Press ENTER or click the search button. -
Delete any PARADOX, PDOXUSRS, or INTERLCK files found. You can either select and delete them one at a time, or click Edit > Select All and press "Delete" to remove them all at once. Instructions for networked workstations: -
Have all users log out of PLATO Pathways, which includes exiting from the Pathways signon screen. -
At the Windows desktop of a workstation, press F3. The Windows search box to find files or folders displays. -
In the Search for Files and Folders box, enter the following: P*.LCK;P*.NET;INTERLCK.* -
Set the "Look in" box to search Q:\PWAY (or your Pathways network drive, if it's different). -
Press ENTER or click the search button. -
Delete any PARADOX, PDOXUSRS, or INTERLCK files found. You can either select and delete them one at a time, or click Edit > Select All and press "Delete" to remove them all at once. -
Set the "Look in" box to search the Local Disk (C:) drive of the workstation. -
Press ENTER or click the search button. -
Delete any PARADOX, PDOXUSRS, or INTERLCK files found. -
If files cannot be deleted by LOCKCLR or manually, restart the file server, then rerun LOCKCLR.
