ERROR: "iplato22.exe is attempting to access the Internet. What do you want to do?"

Issue You are unable to launch a lesson because a Norton Internet Security prompt displays with the following message: "iplato22.exe is attempting to access the Internet. What do you want to do?"
Cause Norton Internet Security firewall is temporarily blocking iPLATO22.EXE from accessing the Internet
Resolution Configure the Norton Internet Security firewall to always allow iPLATO22.EXE to access the Internet

Configure the Norton Internet Security firewall to always allow iPLATO22.EXE to access the Internet.

 

What to do when you see the Norton Internet Security prompt

  1. Select Permit Always in the drop down list under What do you want to do?
  2. Click OK.

You should now be able to launch lessons successfully.

What to do if Norton Internet Security is already blocking access:

If Norton Internet Security has already been configured to always block iPLATO22.EXE from accessing the Internet, you'll need to re-configure it.

  1. Open Norton Internet Security.
  2. Select Personal Firewall > click Configure.
  3. Click the Program Control tab.
  4. If "iPLATO Client Application" or "iPLATO_22.exe" appears in the Programs list, continue with Step 5.

    If "iPLATO Client Application" or "iPLATO_22.exe" does not appear in the Programs list, follow these additional steps, and then continue with Step 6:

    1. Click Add. A file locator displays.
    2. Browse to C:\WINDOWS\PWLN (or C:\WINNT\PWLN).
    3. Select the iPLATO_22.exe file named "iPLATO_22.exe".
    4. Click OK. Continue with Step 6.
  5. Click Edit or Modify.
  6. Select "Allow" or "Permit" > click OK.
  7. If prompted to choose the Application Category, select Education & Family.
  8. Click OK.
