Restore an Achieve Now-PSP Memory Stick (MS) Game:

Files may have been deleted from the memory stick.

Important! During the file restore process:

  • Do not remove the Memory Stick Duo.
  • Do not turn the PSP system off.
  • Do not unplug the AC adaptor from the PSP system or the electrical outlet.
  • Do not remove the PSP battery pack.

The PSP memory stick may become unusable if the file restore process is interrupted. If the memory stick becomes unusable, a new memory stick will need to be purchased.

  1. Make sure the PSP is powered on. (Tip: You may want to run with the AC Adapter connected during this process.) Also, make sure that the memory stick is inserted into the PSP.

  2. Connect the small connector of the USB cable into the PSP USB port (top middle edge) and connect the other (larger) end of the USB cable into an unused USB port on your computer.

  3. On the PSP's Settings menu, select the USB Connection option. You may see the following window pop up; if you do, click the Cancel button:

  4. Note the folder you need to restore from the following table:

  5. For Math game folders, click here to open  the PLATO Learning  FTP site containing the Math game folders.

If you are reading these instructions from a printed copy, go to:
    ftp://ftp.plato.com/public/Achieve Now - PSP/Math/GAME/

    For Reading game folders,
click here to open the FTP site containing the Reading game folders.

If you are reading these instructions from a printed copy, go to:
    ftp://ftp.plato.com/public/Achieve Now - PSP/Reading/GAME/

  6. Once you have the FTP site open, click the Page button and choose the Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer option.

  7. With the name of the folder selected (from step 1 above), right-click on the folder that you want to copy to the PSP and click Copy.

  8. Click the My Computer icon from either the Windows desktop or from the Windows Start button menu.

    or

  9. Double-click (open) the drive that is labeled Removable Disk.

  10. On the next screen, double-click (open) the PSP folder.

  11. Double-click the GAME folder.

  12. On the menu bar, click Edit and then click Paste.

  13. The folder will begin copying from the FTP site to the PSP.

This copy process can take from 30 to 60 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your computer and Internet connection and the size of the files in the folder you are copying from the FTP site. You may find that your PSP unit may go into "sleep" (power-saving) mode (dark screen). This is not a problem; just press the X button to wake the PSP up.

During the folder-copying process, the PSP screen will display "USB Mode". There is no progress bar or other indicator on the PSP to determine file restore progress. Your computer will display a window that will guide you as to the folder-copy processing. A red indicator light on the lower left-hand side of the PSP (called the Memory Stick Duo Access Indicator) will be blinking during the copy process. When the copy is completed, this indicator light will stop blinking, the progress bar on your computer will be filled in and the PSP drive window should display the copied folder as part of its contents.

  14. To prevent accidental deletion from occurring in the future, right-click on the Games folder and check the Read-only box, then click OK.   This will set the eBoot file to read-only and will prevent users from deleting any data in the future.
