How to change IP address of CHPWLN server(s)

Resolution

Change the IP address of the CHPWLN server(s)

The process outlined below will allow you to modify the IP address(es) of the CHPWLN servers. You may need to do this if you are moving the servers to another location with a new subnet, or moving the server(s) to a DMZ.

Caution: Make a full backup of all systems that will be modified before performing any of instructions below. In the event of a catastrophic failure or unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from completing the steps you will need to recover the system from this backup.

Before you continue, read all directions to ensure that you understand what is required for each step. If you have any questions, contact PLATO Support.

1. Update DNS

   • Change the necessary Host (A) Records in the appropriate DNS Zone

   • If DNS is not used, update the HOSTS files on all servers and workstations
     

2. NOTE: If you are using an IP Address for access to your Client-Hosted PLATO Web Learning Network system instead of a URL:
   
   Follow the instructions in Change the URL of your CHPWLN server(s), using the new server IP address(es) wherever the instructions refer to the new URL.
