Details

Resolution

Use Find Courses or Find Resources to locate the activity you wish to assign, then select Create New Assignment from the drop-down menu next to the activity:

  1. If you have not yet created a class for the students to whom you want to give the assignment, create one now.

  2. Use Curriculum Planning > Find Courses or Find Resources to locate the activity you wish to assign.

  3. The Create New Assignment option enables you to create a new assignment in the selected resource. Click the menu button next to the resource and select the Create New Assignment option. The Create New Assignment window displays the following options:

    • Assignment Name - Specify the assignment name in the text box. You can leave it to the default name or change it, either here or on the next screen.

    • Keyword - Enables you to search for a specific user. Enter the name of the user to be searched in the Keyword text box. If you do not specify a keyword, all the learners matching the selected criteria are displayed.

    • District - Select the district from the drop-down list.

    • School - Select the school from the drop-down list.

    • Grade - Select the range of grade from the drop-down list.

    • Class - Select the class for which you are creating this assignment.

    • Start Date - Click the calendar icon to select the start date for the assignment.     You can set this here or on the next screen.

    • End Date - Click the calendar icon to select the end date for the assignment.   You can set this here or on the next screen.

    • Instructions to students - Specify the instructions to be given to the users.   You can set this here or on the next screen.

  4. Enter the details in the appropriate fields to search for a class, then select Go.   Either a list of classes or, if only one class is selected, the list of learners in the class is displayed.

  5. Initially, the Add assignment to learners that join this class box is checked by default, which means that any users added to that class in the future automatically receive ("inherit") any class-level assignments that have been created for that class.   Use this option when you want all students added to the class later to receive the assignment automatically.

If you do not want students added to the class later to receive the assignment, uncheck the box.   You can unassign the newly created assignment by either unchecking individual users or by clicking the Unassign All button, then check just the boxes of the students to whom you wish to give the assignment.

Note:   The Add assignment to learners that join this class option cannot be changed later.   Refer also to this solution on class-level and learner-level assignments.

  6. To set start and end dates for all students in the class, click the calendar icons for each of the start and end dates at the top of the window, then select the start and the end dates.

To set start or end dates for students individually, click the calendar icon for the start or end date next to each student, then select the dates.

  7. Select OK. "Assignment created" appears.
