Black screen flashes briefly and then disappears; MPAS lesson doesn't run (Pathways only)

This permanent solution applies to the following MPAS DOS-based courseware. (If you are having issues with Reading 1 or 2, follow the steps in the temporary workaround instead.)

• Calculus 1 & 2
• Chemistry 1 & 2
• Parenting Skills
• Physics 1 & 2
• Science Fundamentals
• Social Studies

To prevent issues and problems with MPAS DOS-based courseware from occurring, upgrade to Windows-based courseware. There is no charge to upgrade if you participate in PLATO Learning's software support program.

How to install your upgrade

You will receive a .PKG file from PLATO Support Services. You do not have to uninstall the old version of the courseware.

To install the new Windows-based version of the MPAS courseware, follow these steps at a workstation that is set up to run PLATO Pathways:

1. Save the .PKG file to your desktop or other convenient location.
2. Log all other users off the PLATO Pathways system.
3. Go to System Management > Courseware > Install Courseware.
4. Locate and select the .PKG file you saved in step 1.
5. Insert the Courseware version 9.0, volume 1 CD when you are prompted to do so.
6. When the installation completes, try to run a lesson in one of the MPAS curricula and verify that it runs successfully.
