Resolution

How to update Writing Strategies offline activity score and mastery in PLATO Web Learning Network:

  1. Have the student hand in the written Offline Activity for the Writing Strategies module.

  2. Evaluate the writing activity based on the rubric for that activity, which is on the pages the student prints out, as well as in the Writing Strategies curriculum guides (Essential, Fundamental, Intermediate, and Advanced Writing Process and Practice).   Determine a grade (optional) and whether the student has mastered the activity.

  3. Log on to PLATO Web Learning Network.

  4. Click the group tools or class tools link.

  5. Locate the group or class.

  6. Click the View Members of this Group (or class) link.

  7. Click the Edit This User link for the user information you want to update.

  8. Click the Review all activities link.

  9. Drill down through the subactivities to the offline activity.

  10. Enter the student's score for the offline activity.

Note: You can only enter scores in increments of 10.

  11. Mark the offline activity as mastered when you are satisfied with the student's performance.

  12. Click the Update button.

Note: The module status is updated to display as Mastered as soon as the offline activity is marked Mastered, whether or not the student completed the tutorials. Completion is based on completion of the tutorials.

The offline activity thus serves in place of a mastery test, with the difference being that you (instructor) must evaluate the offline activity and determine the mastery status and score.
