ERROR: "A network error occurred while performing Error: could not connect to the database" running Focus

Issue When you try to launch either the Teacher PLATO Focus program, the following message displays: A network error occurred while performing Error: could not connect to the database. Please try again later. The operation failed w/error: Get CheckServer Frame Script (behavior): mSessionID Received () Stopping execution!
Cause The URL has a backslash instead of a forward slash
Resolution Make sure the URL is correct

Resolution

  1. Make sure the URL is correct. The URL should be: http:// (server IP address)/platofocusnet/.

    If step 1 does not resolve the issue and you are certain the URL is correct on the workstations, continue with step 2.

  2. Have someone with administrator rights follow these steps at the PLATO Focus server:

    1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

    2. Right-click on MySql, and then click Start.

    3. Try logging in to PLATO Focus using both the Teacher and Student programs. The problem should no longer occur.
