What is the difference between PWLN offline activities and Web activities?

Here is how to tell the difference between a PWLN offline activity and a PWLN Web activity:

An offline activity appears in Learning Resource Tools with an icon resembling a sheet of paper with a yellow pencil . When you run the activity, it displays text and prompts the user to indicate whether the activity has been completed, started or not started.

A Web activity appears in Learning Resource Tools with an icon resembling a sheet of paper and a mouse . When you run the activity, it does not prompt for completion status, but displays the message:

You are viewing a site outside the PLATO ® Web Learning Network. Close this window when you wish to return.

A variety of titles are used for offline activities and Web activities, which is sometimes confusing.

Examples of offline activities:

• In PLATO Courses: activities labeled "Record Completion"
• In old PLATO Course Models: activities labeled "Instructions"
• Custom offline activities (created by administrator or instructor user)

Examples of Web activities:

• In Foundational Mathematics and Algebra 1 and 2: activities labeled "Offline Activity"
  
• In Essential/Fundamental/Intermediate/Advanced Writing Process and Practice (in the Writing Strategies modules): activities labeled "Off-line Activity"
  
• In Fundamental and Intermediate Reading Strategies: activities labeled "Homework"
  
• In PLATO Courses: activities labeled "Offline Activity" (when paired with "Record Completion" activities; see above)
  
• Custom Web activities (created by administrator or instructor user)
